Start Shooting Course

Yes, this is the cliche basic class that’ll set the foundation for your rest of your photography career. EXCEPT, its not cliche! This course will be completely guiding you from opening the camera box, straight into an exhibition ran by us in the studio! Learn about all the different modes on your camera, finding the right exposure, freezing motion, blurring backgrounds and more. Your camera is amazing, you’re amazing, we just need to unlock potential.

We recommend this course before taking any of the higher level courses.

This course is 4 weeks with 2 hour classes each week! Get ready for HW as well. More Hands-on and Less Lecture. Instructor will vary based on the schedule.

Requirements: DSLR or Mirrorless Camera.

Creative Photography:

Visualization to Creation

This project-based course was created with the working photographer in mind, while also catering to the mature hobbyist who needs support to translate what’s in their head to the camera. In this course, you will learn what it really means to VISUALIZE, and how to really hone in the photograph you want to create, to tell the story you want to tell. You will learn how to take that idea and analyze the steps needed to make it your masterpiece through common (and not-so-common) photographic techniques. We will explain through hands-on learning how lighting, composition and color (amongst other things) create mood, feeling and story. At the end of this course, you will have created a project worthy of your very own exhibition or at least the tools to create one in the future.

We highly suggest you take the START SHOOTING course first if you aren’t familiar with your camera.

Photo Studio & Lighting

You want to be in the studio like those professionals you see on ANTM or GLOW UP. You hear words like “strobes, modifiers, 1 stop, butterfly scrim”. BUT WTF does all this mean!? Learn how to gain control when photographing in a studio setting. Get comfortable with hands-on practice in a working studio. You will learn 20+ light setups using 1-4 lights, creative lighting, color usage, freezing motion, and much more. We’ll also have a model come in to get real world experience.

We highly suggest you take the START SHOOTING course first if you aren’t familiar with your camera.

Meet the Instructor and Owner of LeVue

I’m Gabriel Johnson, founder of LeVue Photography and owner of The LeVue Loft in New York City. With over 12 years of photography experience and 7 years teaching students of all ages, I’ve learned that great photography is as much about connection and creativity as it is about technique.

My background spans from early music shoots with friends to professional portraits, events, and fine art photography. After studying at ASA Institute in Brooklyn, I refined my skills in Photoshop and composition — tools I still use every day to bring stories to life through imagery.

For the past five years, I’ve owned and operated photography studios designed to inspire learning, collaboration, and artistic growth. At The LeVue Loft, my goal is to create a space where anyone — from beginners to seasoned creators — can feel confident behind the lens and discover their unique creative voice.
